It’s been a great year for Dirt! You can revisit our favorite newsletters here.
We made our first acquisition of another newsletter (Tyler Watamanuk’s Sitting Pretty) which we rebranded and relaunched as Prune. (Subscribe here!) We also signed with Trellis Literary Management and WME to expand beyond newsletters.
By the numbers:
We sent 250+ newsletters
Our average open rate was +52%
Our click-through-rate was ~5%
We grew our newsletter audience by 330%
None of this would be possible without you, our readers. Today, we are excited to make three announcements about supporting Dirt in 2024:
Our 2024 subscription is now live! The artwork comes from David Alderman, who designed the branding for both Dirt and Prune. Some of you might already own a version of this design as a t-shirt or poster.
You can now create an account on our website with an email address.
You can purchase an annual subscription to Dirt with a credit card that will be tied to your account and allow you to bypass our paywall.
Does this mean we’ve pivoted away from web3? No, our annual subscriptions are still on the blockchain, specifically, Base. But we’ve partnered with Privy and Unlock to create an onboarding experience that will feel as familiar as purchasing something with Stripe. Learn more with our FAQ.
In 2024, we will also launch subscriptions for Prune, our weekly newsletter about interiors, design and other things. If you purchase an annual subscription to Dirt between now and January 1st, 2024 you’ll receive a free annual Prune subscription when it launches! That’s perfect for people who have been enjoying reading about Bang & Olufsen’s Beosound 9000, wood stacking as art, and a Richard Neutra house that appears in The Holiday.
We have more amazing stories, merch and collaborations coming in 2024. But that shouldn’t surprise you! This is, after all, the dirtyverse. 🍄
