Talking dirt-y

Hey! Osirene here, Community Manager at Dirt. In 2020, I gave up on Big Social. I lost my appetite for consuming IG stories, didn’t care for the highlight Reels, and I stopped posting. The internet is so vast yet at the same time it felt like I had nowhere to go. I was seeking a digital third place.

I found Dirt in 2021 and became an instant fan. I hopped into Dirt Chat and soon learned I wasn’t just bumping digital elbows with Dirt fans, but I was amongst tastemakers. People who love to influence and be influenced by digital pop culture, share their love for the latest Dirt, and have fun discussions about all the things they’re enjoying at the moment, online and offline, in culture.

What’s it like to be a Dirtling? Here are some words from the community:

“It feels like a safe space to explore ideas and be yourself. I described Dirt to a friend the other day as a space we can all gather to relax and find reprieve from the bustle of the internet, bringing back little gems and oddities we find out there to share with each other.” @Hodlon

“[I enjoy] supporting writers and writing that covers the topics I’m interested in and don’t read elsewhere. I also enjoy the dirt community on discord. I'm excited to watch Dirt grow and expand, and being a member feels like I'm a small part of that growth.” @CookieTree

“It’s the only place besides reddit (which is anonymous) where i hang out every day with a smile on my face, it’s like meeting friends at your university library” @angelica_frey
