Skimming the data
Too semicool for school.

Dirt’s CEO Daisy Alioto fills in for senior writer Terry Nguyen.
SKIMMING THE DATA
Kardashian Kolloquium is a project by MJ Corey, whose smart analysis of the Kardashians through the lens of media theory has earned her a significant social media following and now a book deal.
Corey recently launched the Kardashian Data Koalition, teaming up with a collective of quants to look at the big business of being the Kardashians by the numbers. Their latest data project focuses on SKIMS, Kim’s shapewear and loungewear brand. Here are some stats that stood out to me:
“Google Search interest for SKIMS and Kim Kardashian have begun to converge, with SKIMS even surpassing Kim” briefly in query volume
Kim’s 35% stake in SKIMS is more than half of her net worth
37% of SKIMS’ Instagram captions use the word “waitlist”

Read the Preeminent Fashion Journalist of Her Generation

Line Sheet, written by Lauren Sherman, is the newest private email to launch from Puck, the ground-breakling media startup heralded by The New York Times as “The Vanity Fair for the Substack Era.”
Lauren Sherman, a former top executive at Business of Fashion, is the preeminent fashion journalist of her generation, and Line Sheet will be an insider’s look at the fashion industry.
Lauren will write about what everyone in fashion is talking about privately, covering the brands and people driving the industry forward, from publicly traded companies and big-box retailers to luxury’s crown jewels and little-known decision makers, plus the media-investor-industrial complex around it.
Even if you’re loosely connected to the fashion industry, Lauren’s newsletter is a must read.

KINFERENCE
This week I have the pleasure of attending Kinference, the conference formerly known as Brooklyn Beta, organized by our good friends Fictive Kin. Highlights of the first day included hearing about MSCHF’s anime tax product directly from CEO Gabriel Whaley and an extremely moving presentation about creativity from beloved Icelandic taxpayer Haraldur Thorleifsson.
If you have plans to visit Reykjavik, hopefully you can make it to Thorleifsson’s new restaurant and cinema Anna Jóna, named in memory of his mother.
In other news, I'm opening a restaurant in downtown Reykjavik very soon.
It's named after my mom. Like many mom's she was the best mom in the world.
Kind, funny, hard working and a wonderful artist. And cool, oh boy was she cool.
See you soon at @AnnaJona
