Weekend Mixtape

Catching up with the dirtyverse.

@alexschelldorf

Hello! Daisy here.

We hope you enjoyed The Dirt Review of Dupes.

ICYMI, you can see all eight pieces listed on the front page of our platform. Yesterday’s piece, Look rich quick, is about duping “old money” aesthetics on social media, written by Michelle Santiago Cortés who is joining Dirt for the next three months as a contributing writer as Terry Nguyen moves into a contributing editor role.

Michelle Santiago Cortés is a freelancer who writes about life online and youth culture, mostly for The Cut (and now Dirt!). Before that she was at Refinery29. In addition to writing about art and technology she is a fan of: seaweed, rocks, and art books.

THE TASTE ECONOMY

127 of you came out to Bushwick for our event on Thursday! Along with Spice Capital, we hosted two lively panel discussions.

Terry Nguyen spoke with Reggie James (Eternal), Drew Austin (Kneeling Bus), Andrea Hernandez (Snaxshot) and Naj Austin (Somewhere Good) about worldbuilding.

After that, I moderated a discussion between Tina He (Station), Emma Bates (Diem), Jose Mejia (FWB) and Tony Lashley (Marine Snow) about the future of social media.

A recording of the event will be available on Hypeshot for the next three months. If you are a paying subscriber of Dirt, it’s free–just log in with the wallet that holds your subscription. If not, tickets cost ~$5 and can be purchased with a credit card. Please reach out if you have any issues with the recording!
