This week on Tasteland, Daisy and Francis are joined by comedy, culture, and perfume writer, Carly Silverman. Carly is also a TV and video producer, and host of the new podcast Smell That Movie.

Lux, Dirt and the Economic Hardship Reporting Project are pleased to announce a $1,800 prize for the best narrative-driven cultural criticism about work with $1,000 for the runner up. We are especially interested in personal stories about the ways labor shapes our lives, health, politics and perspectives. All essays should be submitted complete in the 1,500-2,000 word range and previously unpublished. The deadline for submissions has been extended to June 15th, 2025.
